Food Education Australia

Project Type

Website redesign to enhance user experience

Date

April 2024

Background
Food Education Australia is a pioneering non-profit organization dedicated to transforming the way communities think about and engage with food. With a deep commitment to promoting wellness and sustainability through experiential education, the organization operates at the intersection of health, environment, and social welfare. Its programs are designed to build capacity and empower individuals, especially young people, with the knowledge and skills to make informed food choices, thus fostering a healthier and more sustainable future.
Food Education Australia's initiatives range from hands-on cooking classes and educational workshops to community outreach programs, enterprise projects and collaborations with schools and universities. These initiatives not only teach the essentials of food literacy and well-being but also address broader issues like social enterprise, disaster resilience, food justice and sustainability. By promoting a holistic understanding of food's role in society, Food Education Australia is cultivating a generation that values and practices responsible consumption and healthy living, ultimately aiming to reduce food-related health disparities and promote environmental stewardship.

The Project Brief
The primary objective of this UX project is to optimize Food Education Australia’s homepage for converting visitors into donors and improving the overall donation process. This involves a comprehensive overhaul focusing on user experience, persuasive content strategy, and streamlined donation processes.
The website caters to both members and the volunteer community (some individuals may belong to both). It should balance between raising donations and encouraging participation in the volunteers' community.
This project will enhance donor engagement and conversion by optimizing the website's design, content, and donation process to create intuitive, compelling, and efficient pathways that effectively convert visitors into donors.
Note for advanced students - optional: As part of their fundraising efforts, Food Education Australia is establishing a ‘giving circle’ which aims to attract 50x$500 donors (or groups of donors) to establish a $25K grant, this also means the donors will have a say in who gets the grant. This is a unique take on the traditional donation ask. Advanced students may choose to consider this new feature in their research/design.
Primary Tasks
1. Conduct UX Research with the target audience to inform your UX solution
2. Submit a UX Design enhancement to address the project brief objectives.
